REDBUG FOOTBALL PROGRAM CELEBRATED 100 YEARS

A review of our history link on this website, will provide all who read it with a history of the Fordyce Redbug Football program. Our foundation board Vice President, Dr. Chuck Kauffman, interviewed the late Mr. Rogers in 2003, who provided most of the content and history for us. Newspaper articles and Redbug school annuals provide us with important dates that lead us to believe the Redbugs are one of, if not the oldest, continuous football programs alive and well in Arkansas. We hope you read the article and celebrate with us the legacy and anniversary of our Fordyce Redbug Football heritage.

Welcome

The Fordyce Redbug Alumni Foundation began this school year, 2006/2007 with a board of sixteen members. The board meets every three months at the Klappenbach Backery on Saturday morning.

Board terms for Frances Frazier and Mr. Jack Gresham expired in 2006 and the board extended an invitation to each to continue on the board for another five years. Mrs. Frazier accepted but Mr. Gresham declined to be an active member, but did accept the invitation to serve as Emeritus Director.

Brad Burleson has been named new board member and Kenny Lacewell has requested that he be dropped as an active member due to family sickness. The board is currently considering a replacement for Mr. Lacewell. Rondell Harrison has asked to be relieved of his duties at this time due to the death of his wife, Sharon. Mr. Lacewell and Mr. Harrison will be asked to again serve after a period of time.

Membership letters were mailed by the East Lab at FHS in December, 2006 to over 1100 FHS alumni and 210 were returned. Because of the expense, the board is working to update the list and ask any alumni that has an updated list of their class members, or if they have moved, please send any new information to Margie Nance, 1515 Welch St, Fordyce, AR 71742. This information will certainly help save the foundation money. If you did not receive a letter it is because it has been returned; PLEASE send us your address, we want to stay in touch.

This year, the board has helped with a science lab need in the amount of $1,114.00 and is waiting the results of another project involving the Quiz Bowl team.

Our board is sponsoring a golf tournament during Fordyce on the Cotton Belt and more information can be found on this website. Dr. Hugh Nutt and Dr. Chuck Kauffman are in charge.
